This morning WOD:
Back Squat 3-3-3-3-3
In teams of three:
5 Back Squat (80/60kg)
Alternating between athletes and using each other as human squat racks.
I’ve been doing squats (front, back, OH etc) for quite some time, and, it would seem, always been using my toes and quads to effect the movement, which is completely wrong. This really only came to light this morning, when Drum videoed me from the side, and we walked through the motions that I was going through. Well.. Needless to say that once I started doing them properly, and engaging the posterior chain and sitting back on my heels instead of rocking forwards on my toes, the old back squat felt completely different, and I immediately lost 15kg (down to 120kg from 135) from my PB :-/
Not an entirely bad thing though, I really need to nail that form so that everything else can improve, and once I have nailed it, I should fair fly past that 15kg I lost and see some real improvements in many areas of my CrossFit journey!
